Dogs experience the world through their noses, and sniffing is naturally engaging for them. The Sniffy Capsule gives your dog an opportunity to use that extraordinary sense of smell while encouraging curiosity, exploration and independent problem-solving.
And because you choose the hiding place and the scent, no two sniffing sessions will be exactly the same.
It’s not formal scent training. There are no complicated rules, commands or courses to follow.
It’s simply a fun mental enrichment game for any and all dogs. If they have a nose they can sniff!
How it works
- Choose a dog-safe scent.
- Add a small amount to a piece of cotton wool. The less you use the more of a challenge it will be! But start off easy.
- Place the scented cotton wool inside the capsule. You can even use something like coffee or a piece of lemon peel.
- Screw the lid on securely.
- Let your pup sniff the capsule to know what they will be looking for.
- Hide the capsule somewhere.
- Give an easy command (like sniff’it)
- Let your pup put their nose to work!
- Remember to encourage and praise your pup for their effort and accomplishments.
Start with an easy hiding place and gradually make the game more challenging as your dog gets the hang of it.
You can hide it indoors , outdoors, or tucked away. The goal is simply to send your pup on a sniffing adventure.
Get creative with the scents
One of the best things about The Sniffy Capsule is that you supply the scent.
Depending on what is appropriate and safe for your dog, you could experiment with scents such as coffee, suitable dog-safe essential-oil scents, or even the scent from certain fruit peels.
The scented cotton wool can be replaced whenever you want a fresh scent, or you can reuse it for another sniffing session.
Always use scents that are safe for dogs and never place anything inside the capsule that your dog could ingest.

Only use dog-safe scents and materials. Never use a scent or substance that may be toxic, irritating or harmful to dogs, and never place food or other loose items inside the capsule if your dog may be able to access or ingest them.
Always supervise your dog during play and remove the capsule if your dog attempts to chew or damage it. HAVE FUN!
